Owned an commissioned by a reknowned art collector, DIB Art Museum, the latest contemporary art museum in Bangkok, will become a house to diverse international art pieces; such as Picasso, James Turrell, and Alexander Calder. The museum was once an old, derelect warehouse, located on the Rama IV road and borderd by the busy Khlong Toey neighbourhood.

The name “DIB”, which means ‘raw’ in Thai, became an inspiration to the design, influencing the design features, material palette, and the planting palette of landscape design and architecture.

The Mural Wall is 100 meters long and 23 meters high, bordering the west side, facing inwards the DIB Art Museum. The design was inspired by advertisement billboards in Bangkok, with the green wall framing the canvas space where art pieces and sculptural installations will be installed.

Both sides of the wall is cladded by galvanized fence units, a medium for the selected creepers to grow. The planting palette was designed in collaboration with Doc Nursery, a planting artist and scientist, with Confederate Jasmine and Giant Grape Ivy as the main species.

The Entry Green Wall is 50 meters long and 4 meters high, located at the front entry of DIB Art Museum, next to the Reflecting pool, leading into the inner Courtyard. The design intention was to create a living art piece, using a double mesh trellis as a medium for the selected creepers to grow three-dimensionally within the framed structure.

The planting palette was designed in collaboration with Doc Nursery, with Confederate Jasmine, Grape Ivy, and Cluster Fig as the main species.

The inner Courtyard is the center plaza that connects to all parts of DIB Art Museum. It is also an art plaza, where sculptures would be comissioned by the owner. Flamed Finished Arctic Black Granite is used here as an art canvas and for temporary event space.

On the second level, the Sculpture Garden is a display area for long-term sculpture pieces, adjacent to the Mural Wall. Here a James Turrell Sculpture is permanently installed.
